Adapttech partners with japanese partner Pacific Supply
Adapttech partners with leading orthopedic technology researchers to distribute lower limb prosthetic fitting solutions in Japan
BIRMINGHAM, UK and PORTO, PORTUGAL – August 24, 2022 – Biomedical scale-up Adapttech, today announced that it has partnered with Pacific Supply Co. Ltd in Osaka to distribute prosthetic fitting solutions to the Japanese market.
Pacific Supply Co. Ltd specializes in providing prosthetic products and solutions to government, healthcare and hospital facilities across Japan, and the company supports other leading companies like Ossur, Panasonic, Orfit, and Bauerfeind.
Frederico Carpinteiro, CEO, Adapttech, said: “Our new partnership with Pacific Supply demonstrates fantastic progress in our commitment to the development and distribution of patient-centric prosthetic solutions around the world. Incidences of major amputations are growing globally due to rising numbers of health and age-related conditions; increasing the need for prosthetics. Japan is a growing market for orthopedic technology, and we have an exciting pipeline of products in development that are undergoing user-testing ahead of being released later this year.”
Adapttech promotes patient mobility by creating devices that use key health data points to improve patient outcomes. Adapttech’s first product, the INSIGHT PRO System, is designed to improve the fitting process of lower-limb prosthesis and to digitally replicate sockets for use in CAD CAM production workflow. In Japan, the top cause of amputation is diabetes, and those patients struggle to provide a good feedback to orthopedic technicians to improve their fitting. INSIGHT technology from ADAPTTECH will help the local clinicians to work with objective data points.
PACIFIC SUPPLY is the largest distributor of O&P products in Japan and is part of the KAWAMURA Group; a well known leading family-based organisation that has been providing patient care through its KAWAMURA GISHI clinics in the Osaka and Tokyo areas since 1946.
A recent series of licensing deals with Modus Health, the University of Washington and Advanced Rehabilitation Therapy sees Adapttech expanding its focus in patient outcomes management through new hardware devices, apps, data servers, AI-supported analysis, and professional reporting for insurance payers and healthcare professionals. Adapttech will release new technology in 2H 2022 incorporating this licensed IP, and these advancements will now serve the Japanese market as Adapttech expands its distribution reach through Pacific Supply.
