2022 in review

It has been an eventful year for Adapttech, and there are many accomplishments to celebrate! From receiving awards to expanding our reach to even more countries, it’s been a successful year thanks to the Adapttech team. 2022 also marked the 7th anniversary of Adapttech! We are incredibly proud of our dedicated team and all that they have achieved over the past years.

In this post, we’ll take a look back at all of the highlights and achievements from the past year and reflect on the progress we’ve made as a company. Join us as we review the successes of Adapttech in 2022!

FUNDRAISING

In April, Adapttech announced that it had raised £2.25M from investors, including Mercia Asset Management, ACF Investors, Wren Capital, and Wealth Club. This funding has been used to further develop product innovation, research, and development.

Next year will be an exciting opportunity to show you some results from this funding by launching new innovative products. Stay tuned!

NEW PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

We started the year with a turnaround in our product range! Our traditional INSIGHT System was modified into two distinct products, INSIGHT Sense, and INSIGHT Digitizer, which can work as standalone products or together as the INSIGHT Pro package.

INSIGHT Sense is a simple and affordable pressure evaluation tool that allows prosthetists to better understand what is happening within the prosthetic socket of the patients inside or outside the clinic environment.

Our original INSIGHT Scanner, transformed into the INSIGHT Digitizer, is now capable of doing high-precision scans for lower limb sockets and plaster casts, providing clinicians with a precise 3D model of the patient socket for replication or digital storage.

With the new INSIGHT Pro, an ensemble of all products, prosthetists will take advantage of the features of INSIGHT Sense and INSIGHT Digitizer, making it the ideal product to assess and monitor the fit of patients’ lower limb prosthetic socket in real time.

In addition, we were pleased to announce the product we are currently developing at AOPA's Product Preview Theatre in San Antonio. Motio Stepwatch® is a medical wearable device that monitors the activity of lower-limb amputees, supporting the evaluation of their functional level. Its hardware is built upon the clinically approved and FDA-listed Modus Stepwatch 4™. Stay tuned because we will have exciting news next year!

AWARDS

Adapttech is proud to have been recognized for our commitment to excellence in the O&P industry by achieving several awards. Thanks to the team’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence, Adapttech continues to thrive. We look forward to continuing to bring great news to the O&P market in 2023 and beyond!

These were the achievements of this year:

PARTNERSHIPS

Adapttech has achieved an incredible feat through the partnerships the company has made. Not only have we partnered up with new distributors around the world but, we were able to sign licensing deals and use INSIGHT technology in a collaborative study. This is a major milestone for the company and an impressive sign of the immense growth that Adapttech has experienced over the past year.

SUCCESSFUL EVENTS

Adapttech’s first event of the year was AAOP Atlanta in March, where we had the pleasure to announce that we’d launch a new range of INSIGHT products adapted to the needs of different customers. Cassandra Delgado, CPO, MSPO, led a workshop about Clinical Techniques using INSIGHT products to improve patient outcomes.

In May, Adapttech was present in Leipzig for the first time since 2018, for the biggest O&P trade show in Europe: OTWorld. This year we were proud to share this experience with our German distributor Guenther Bionics, and together we welcomed hundreds of participants who had the opportunity to see our range of INSIGHT products in our booth.

Our CEO Frederico Carpinteiro was invited to give a pitch about Adapttech at Wired Health 2022 in London. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase INSIGHT Sense while meeting other Health Tech professionals in a different environment.

This year, we also participated in two regional O&P events in the USA for the first time. Attending the Florida Association of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FAOP) and the New Jersey Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetics (NJAAOP) gave us the opportunity to engage with a new audience, increasing our brand awareness.

Over on this side of the Atlantic, Adapttech exhibited at ISPO France, sharing the booth with our partner Roboticom, and our Clinical Specialist Vanessa Carvalho travelled to Norway during the same period to support our new Norwegian distributor, Alfimed, at NITO Conference.

Our Embedded Systems team had the opportunity to go to The Future of Electronics RESHAPED Global Conference in Eindhoven, where Rafael Silva, our Embedded Systems Team Leader, presented "Wearable medical gait sensors: the role of printed flexible electronics", focusing on INSIGHT Sense technology.

We had an amazing showtime at AOPA San Antonio! In this year’s National Assembly, our team provided a Manufactures’ Workshop on socket fit and alignment analysis using INSIGHT Sense and was selected to display our paper on “Patient Outcomes and Mental Health” as a poster. Adapttech presented a digital O&P Care Education session on “Optimizing Socket Comfort and Prosthetic Alignment Utilizing Portable Socket Pressure-Sensing Technology” and showcased the Digitizer at the O&P Care Digital Showcase. We also presented Motio (our latest development soon to be available to the O&P Industry) at the Product Preview Theatre. After the show, we were nominated "Best of Show" by well-respected 3D Printing advocate and CP Brent Wright on his LinkedIn Show. It was one of the greatest events for us.

In October, the Department of International Trade (DIT) in the Midlands virtually organized Argentina MedTech Webinar.  Only 6 companies from the Midlands were chosen to take part in an effort to aid entry into the markets of Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Attendees for this event included: distributors, hospitals, and clinics.

Finally, The INSIGHT Showcase was our first in-person event organized by us! During this successful event, Adapttech gave presentations on our lower-limb prosthetics technology, held discussion panels, workshops, and Q&A sessions for the prosthetists, doctors, students, and interns who attended the event.

The Adapttech team would like to sincerely thank all partners, team members, and attendees who were part of these events and showcases. We could not have achieved such success without your support and commitment. We are truly grateful for your participation and dedication to improving and expanding the O&P industry.
