The development team has worked over the last few months to revamp the traditional INSIGHT System, adding new features to all its components. These changes have led to the creation of two distinct standalone products which can also be bought together in a professional package where the user will benefit from all its functionalities.

Adapttech celebrated its 7th birthday on the 22nd of February and, after two years apart due to COVID-19, we finally got the team together! Our colleagues were finally able to safely fly from France and the UK to join us in Portugal - all at the same time!

This year's show will be particularly special for us because we have just launched a new range of products that have raised the interest of many O&P professionals. Adapttech team will be present to present first-hand its new INSIGHT Sense - a portable real-time analysis pressure measurement system, that provides average pressure data in relation to the gait phases.

Trying to make a design and development process with several teams in different fields can be quite burdensome if they don’t know where they should meet in the process and what they should deliver in order to get a product that meets everyone’s expectations, especially the user ones.

A partnership with ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics) has made it possible for our company to hold accredited webinars and provide certified prosthetists (CPO’s) an opportunity to get free 1.5 CE credits without having to leave the office.

But, as Williamson et al mentioned almost 30 years ago, in 1994, while such technology is welcome and exciting because of its rehabilitative potential, it is important that attention is also focused on psychosocial issues that may affect physical rehabilitation [2].

November is National Diabetes Month. This movement hopes to raise awareness of symptoms, promote healthy living and ensure people are aware of risk factors. At Adapttech we'd like to partake in the initiative and raise awareness of this issue.

Azure IoT Edge is an Internet of Things (IoT) service that builds on top of IoT Hub and enables users to carry out edge computing. This means that the data is analyzed on the devices rather than in the cloud itself. With Edge computing, you can avoid transferring raw data by carrying out data cleaning, aggregation, and analysis on the device itself, and then send the insights gained to the cloud.

Although walking poses little challenge to individuals who are healthy, those with gait pathologies or lower-limb amputations can find it tiring and difficult [4]. Gait analysis is a well-established tool for the quantitative assessment of gait disturbances providing functional diagnosis, assessment for treatment planning, and monitoring of disease progress [1].

In this week’s blog post, we would like to present Timothy’s Case Study, which shows how important the INSIGHT System is in helping patients understand what is happening to their residual limb. One of the central goals of our technology is to facilitate and improve communication between the prosthetist and the patient.

The 2021 National Assembly by American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (#AOPA2021) was held in Boston, September 9-11th. In addition to the in-person assembly, virtual education was available. Adapttech team was present with activities, workshops, and one-on-one meetings, and sparked quite an interest from attendees as traffic to exhibit booths stayed consistent.

During the academic period, in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, there are several software that we have contact with, some of them outdated or even obsolete, but it is with them that we learn to work and apply the knowledge that was/is passed on. Also, there are several subjects taught, which is difficult to acquire the necessary knowledge for when we embrace a professional challenge.

At Adapttech we care about the well-being of people. The values we associate with the development of our products are also reflected in our day-to-day actions as a team, and that’s why we created the project Adapttech Beyond.

Adapttech, like many other startups, has, as a recruitment policy, a bet on young graduates, willing to learn, grow and with the drive to bring new ideas.

Shipping products to the United States was, in the beginning, a big challenge for Adapttech. It's a different reality that we weren't used to: new rules, bureaucracies to receive the products, and the need to always have a broker – a person responsible for the package, who needs to be informed to deal with the US customs and provide all the documents required on time.

When I joined the company in September of 2019, our first scanner, from now on G1, was already certified and with all the heavy lifting on development was already done. Some of the choices were made having in consideration the time constraints to have the scanner certified and those decisions led to use what was available rather than what we could find that better suited our needs.

When you're a child and you think about what do you want to be in the future, you always think about ways that you can change the world to a better place by being a doctor, a fireman, or even a singer. But you never think of becoming an engineer right? I've never heard a kid saying "I want to be an engineer" "I want to do Regulatory Affairs". But it is only when you grow up that you find the power within these jobs and within small companies like Adapttech.
